Frequently asked questions and their answers

General Questions

Why do I need an admission ticket if I only want to go to the café?
The café-restaurant is located in the dome of Vienna’s Art History Museum, and there is no clear separation between the museum and the café. As a result, it’s impossible to distinguish between museum visitors and café guests.

Can I make a reservation for the café-restaurant?
Reservations can be made for the café-restaurant until 11:30 a.m. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of visitors, we are unable to accept reservations after 11:30 a.m. Guests will be seated in the order of arrival.

Is the café-restaurant wheelchair accessible?
The museum entrance on the Ring (Burgring 5) is wheelchair accessible. A member of the museum staff will welcome you and take you into the museum. From there you can take one of the two lifts to the café. Please note that access here also requires an admission ticket.

Are dogs permitted in the café-restaurant?
No, unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in the museum. Since access to our café-restaurant is only through the museum, dogs are not allowed.

Questions about dinner

What time is dinner served?
Dinner is served only on Thursdays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Special closing days will be announced on the website.

What are the dinner options?
Our classic dinner includes five courses: an appetiser served on a tiered platter, soup, a choice of three main courses, dessert, followed by a cheese course.

Our deluxe version, which includes a glass of champagne, can be ordered on request.

If our five-course meal feels like too much, we recommend our Dinner by the Window, where you can enjoy a three-course meal or order dishes individually.

Do I need a museum admission ticket for dinner?
Yes, an admission ticket is required for dinner as well. The evening brings together the best of art and dining.
